ABOUT

First, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to visit my page to get to know a little bit more about me and my desire to run for Parkland City Commission.

I grew up as the daughter of immigrant parents. My father passed away when I was seven which left my mother with two young girls to raise without knowing any English. Although times could be challenging, I learned a lot having to translate school and medical forms or explain what the bills were. Despite that unexpected responsibility, what we knew then and still admire to this day is, in this country you can do and achieve anything … as long as you work hard. This became engrained into every fiber of my being starting at a young age. I realized I could do anything as long as I worked hard and proved myself. This mindset allowed me to become one of the first college graduates in my family and laid the foundation for my future pursuits.

Graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in Business Administration and Management, I’ve held leadership positions in organizations such as Bank of America, Legacy Bank of Florida, and most recently as the Executive Director of Operations for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Inc. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work on major projects including working on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Currently, I serve as the Chief Operating Officer for a personal injury law firm, where I contribute to the pursuit of justice for those in need.

Throughout the years and as a mom, I looked to get involved in ways so I could add value to the schools and our community. From volunteering as room mom, to joining the PTA, to participating in community events like the Harvest Drive and Relay for Life.  Over time, I had the pleasure and honor of serving on Parkland’s Education Advisory Board, then the Charter Review Board, and lastly, the Community Advisory Board. As I continued to build my professional career and experience through Leadership Fort Lauderdale (Class XXII), I gained a deep knowledge of what society needs to successfully function, gained a glimpse into government work, and how small businesses are truly the lifeline of our local economy. Having chaired the Small Business Committee at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, in addition to my Board appointment, I brought those skills and learnings to help revitalize the Parkland Chamber of Commerce. I’m so proud to see how far they have come today as an organization!

My dedication to community service has been recognized through various accolades, including being named an Up & Comer of the Year by South Florida Business & Wealth Magazine and one of 100 Outstanding Women in Broward County by the Girl Scouts of SE Florida. Additionally, I received the Small Business of the Year award from the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and had the privilege to accept Parkland’s very first proclamation for Women’s History Month.

Above all, and just like with many of you, family life is very important for me. I am blessed to be married for the past 20 years. I have two daughters that attend Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, and last year, my family welcomed my 16-year-old cousin who was displaced due to the Maui fires. Providing stability and support to her during this critical time was important to us as a family.

I’ve decided to run for Parkland City Commission because I want to serve our city in a more meaningful capacity. As a dedicated community leader and involved mom, I've been deeply committed to making Parkland a better place for all of us.  I'm running for Commission because I want to continue this important work, ensuring that Parkland remains a vibrant and enjoyable place to live, work, and play. Together, let's build an even brighter future for our families and neighbors. Thank you for your trust.
